LaSalle Station ETOD Community Meeting #1 Summary

Thank you to all that had the chance to join the LaSalle Station community session last week, the turnout was great with a standing room only crowd. We may need to see if we can get a bigger space in the future if we see even more people attend.  As part of the meeting we had the opportunity to engage with members of the City’s Office of Strategic Planning team to give community feedback on Transportation, Housing and Amenities associated with the potential project.  It was great to see the community voices some of the same ideas we came up with in our cohort. I was also able to use my new knowledge in ETOD to help explain a few concepts to community members.

Representatives of most of the development firms were in attendance as well. I saw that many of them were taking pictures of the captured community response and I had the opportunity to talk with a few of them.  They all seemed very excited to have the opportunity to directly engage with community members to get a better understanding of what we want to see in this development project.

The city plans to have 3 more community sessions on 9/14, 9/22, and 9/28 as well as 3 pop-up events in the community on 8/11, 8/18 and 8/25.  I spoke with the lead  City Planner on this project and she said the pop-up will be them hanging out at the LaSalle station for a day interviewing users, another one walking up and down Main Street in that area.
Attaching the flier with info for future meetings.
