Breakfast Meeting

A very informative breakfast meeting was held July 27 at the Gloria Parks Community  Center,  It was very well attended.  Among the speakers were representatives from Amazon, Family Dollar, Eight Days of Hope,. the Mayor’s impact team, the University Collaborative, and the University District Block Club Coalition.  Councilman Rasheed Wyatt, Chief Carmen Menza from District E, and housing supervisors from the city answered many questions about issues in our neighborhoods.  Eight Days of Hope founder Steve Tabor, spoke about his group along with volunteers from the Buffalo area and around the country,who replaced roofs and steps, added handicap ramps, painted houses, cut down trees and weeded laws as well as other home repairs in the University district.  Eight Days will do this again  next year July 18 – 25, 2020. in another district in the city of Buffalo.

 Mickey Vertino, president of the University Heights Collaborative  ( UHC),  and Annie Cheatum President of The University District Block Club Coalition  (UDBCC) both spoke about the importance of attending meetings to find out what is happening in your area.  The UHC meetings are at the Gloria Parks Community Center. the second Tuesday of the Month.at 7 pm.  The UDBCC meetings are held at 995 Kensington Ave  on the third Tuesday of the month at 6 pm. The District E meetings are held at 995 Kensington on the second Wednesday of each month at 6 pm..  The meeting ended at noon with everyone there learning something new about what if happening in our district and how to become a part of the changes
