ReTreePhaseIVThankYou

Thank You For Supporting ReTree the District!

Over 250 residents, business owners, and students joined in for the Phase IV ReTree the District Planting on Saturday, April 16th to plant 170 trees on streets across University District.

Thank you for everyone’s hard work and dedication in making this long term investment in our environment and community. Be sure to stay tuned as we’ll have our last big planting in Fall 2016!

ReTree the District is a collaborative project of community partners in Buffalo’s University District that is working to plant 1,000 trees across the community. By planting trees we are not only creating a healthier environment, we’re also creating a stronger community and building relationships between residents, students, and neighbors.

Capen Garden Walk – Invitation to Gardeners!

CGW_feature2015_2

Dear Neighbor,

We invite you to participate in the 15th annual Samuel P. Capen Garden Walk on Saturday, July 16 by sharing your garden or visiting the gardens in our neighborhood. All gardens are welcome; no garden is too big or too small!

The Samuel P. Capen Garden Walk, a University Heights tradition since 2002, was created to showcase the neighborhoods surrounding the UB South Campus while building community among neighbors. There is no fee to enter your garden in the walk, which is held rain or shine. This event is part of the University and community’s larger efforts to make the neighborhoods surrounding the South Campus exciting, safe and vibrant places to live, work, and play.

Event Information:

  • Date and Time: Saturday, July 16, 2016, between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm – rain or shine!
  • Location: Various homes and public spaces in the UB South Campus neighborhoods
  • Maps: Will be available at UB Anderson Gallery at One Martha Jackson Place

Gardener Information:

Thank you for your interest in joining us! This year, you will have the opportunity to host your lighted garden for an evening walk from 8pm to 10pm. To share your garden, please submit your entry by June 20 in order to be included on our map. You will receive a confirmation email after you register.

All participants are invited to the pre-event meet and greet on Friday evening, July 15th, to pick up your lawn sign and maps and to meet fellow gardeners. The location and time of this event will be included in your confirmation of participation email.

Participants are encouraged to be home on July 16 to host Garden Walk visitors and greet neighbors for this community-building event. This is an excellent way to meet your neighbors!

All participants are asked to leave their signs up on Sunday, July 17th, so the gardeners who participate on Saturday can see the other gardens on the walk.

We hope you’ll join us in this wonderful summer tradition!

Sincerely,
The Samuel P. Capen Garden Walk Committee
