Event Cancelled Garden Speaker has been added to Plant and Seed Exchange

Something new has been added to Capen Garden Walk’s Spring Plant and Seed Exchange. The University Community has been so supportive of garden walk and all our fundraising events that it’s time to give back the love. We are inviting everyone to a lively illustrated talk called “45 (Gardening) Tips in 45 Minutes.” Connie Oswald Stofko, publisher of Buffalo-NiagaraGardening.com will delight us with ideas to make our gardens prettier, easier, cozier, and so much more! Refreshments will be served and the talk will be held on May 16, 2020 at 12PM in the Fellowship Room of the University Presbyterian Church which is handicapped accessible, 3330 Main St. at Niagara Falls Blvd.

Both before and after the talk you are encouraged to visit the plant and seed exchange at the church to swap plants from your garden with other gardeners and choose from 75 varieties of seeds offered by ARTseeds. There will also be gently used planters, vases and garden ornaments for sale at reasonable prices. Donations of planters, vases and garden ornaments are gladly accepted.

Christine Brooks Garden Grant Accepting Applications

The purpose of this monetary award is to encourage gardeners, both experienced and new, to beautify our University Heights neighborhood and participate in the Samuel P. Capen Garden Walk. The award was established in 2016 to honor the spirit of dedicated gardener Christine H. Brooks (May 20, 1938-January 14, 2015), whose lovely garden on Larchmont Road enhanced our neighborhood for many years. We would like to help our neighbors to enhance an already existing garden or to start a new bed in an area visible from the street. You may ask for funding for bags of mulch, new perennials, a shrub or something more ambitious. Christine Brooks Garden Grant with map APPLICATION – 2017
